Three UK airports were celebrating last night after picking up individual awards at the annual ACI-Europe Awards in Istanbul.
London City Airport, Edinburgh Airport and Heathrow Airport were chosen as the winners in the following categories:
- London City Airport – Best airport, under 5 million passengers
- Edinburgh Airport – Best airport, 5-10 million passengers
- Heathrow Airport – Best airport, over 25 million passengers
Darren Caplan, Chief Executive of the Airport Operators Association, the trade body for UK airports, said:
“For the second year in a row, UK airports have stormed the ACI-Europe awards. Last year, no other country received as many awards as the UK, and we have continued that trend this year. It is testament to the huge amount of work airports across the country are doing to upgrade facilities, invest in new technologies and improve the passenger experience, and I’m delighted that this effort has been recognised across the whole of Europe. So, congratulations to London City, Edinburgh and Heathrow for picking up awards last night, and I look forward to seeing if the UK can make it a repeat performance at next year’s awards!”
