Commenting on the news, AirportsUK’s chief executive, Karen Dee, said:

“We are delighted that Ms Haigh will be joining us. The government’s stated ambition is to drive economic growth and aviation will play a vital role in enabling this.

“She is a key player in the cabinet, and delegates will be able to hear how she will support the sector in delivering this growth agenda.

“It is great that our conference continues to attract the most senior decision-makers, who can use the occasion to engage with the sector on the challenges being faced.

“I know that all of our members will be interested to hear what the Transport Secretary has to say and keen to take the opportunity to question her on the government’s plans.
