Commenting on today’s (Tuesday 04 August 2026) publication of the Airport Accessibility Performance Report 2025/26 by the CAA, Karen Dee, chief executive of AirportsUK, the trade body for UK airports, said:

“This new report shows excellent progress is being made by airports to provide passengers that require extra assistance with the vital services they need to fly.

“We are pleased to note that all 28 of UK airports assessed were either very good or good, and that 82 per cent of passengers with a disability reported being satisfied with their most recent flight, similar to that of passengers as a whole (88%), and a notable improvement on the year before (+8ppt). Where it identifies issues, the report will help airports address concerns.

“This is all in the context of growing demand for services, with the report showing airports served 9.4% more passengers with extra assistance needs than in 2024, representing just under 6m of all travellers. This means since 2015 there has been a more than doubling (115.8%) of those requiring accessibility services.

“To meet this demand, airports are continuing to invest heavily and work with groups representing travellers with additional needs, as well as the CAA, to improve services even further”.
