FOLLOWING YESTERDAY’S (Wednesday 28 October 2026) budget, Karen Dee, chief executive of AirportsUK, the trade body for UK airports, commented on the government’s commitment to act on airport business rates:
“We welcome the Chancellor’s recommitment in the Budget to address the disproportionate levels of business rates faced by airports. However, this issue is now urgent and, with investment decisions pending and discussions around the next valuation period looming, industry needs more details about the proposed solution which are not yet available.
“Government must build on today’s words with a clear timeline and momentum towards a resolution. A proportionate, predictable and stable system will give airports the confidence to invest in their infrastructure, attract new routes and airlines, compete internationally, and deliver greater choice and value for consumers.”
