Commenting on the news today (Tuesday 04 August 2026) that the Supreme Court has dismissed challenges to London Luton Airport’s expansion plans, Karen Dee, chief executive of AirportsUK, the trade body for UK airports, said:

“We are delighted that the Supreme Court has dismissed the environmental challenges to London Luton Airport’s plans to increase passenger capacity, clearing the path to deliver new investment and jobs into the area and providing more connectivity and choice for passengers.

“As an island nation, UK airports provide that vital link with the world, helping business trade, keeping families connected, and enabling businesses to reach out to new markets, all contributing to our lives.

“The priority now should be for all parties involved to work together to deliver these capacity improvements so the region and the wider UK can enjoy the benefits they will bring as quickly as possible.”
