Today (Thursday 05 December 2024) the aviation minister, Mike Kane MP, spoke at the AirportsUK Annual Conference and highlighted that “airports’ growth is the UK’s growth.”
The minister also asked the industry to look at what the government has achieved so far – getting the SAF mandate on the books, consulting on a new process for airspace modernisation, and extra investment in advanced aerospace.
Commenting on his remarks, Karen Dee, chief executive of AirportsUK, said:
“We are delighted that the minister was able to join us and voice the government’s continued commitment to UK airports.
“He is right to say that there has been a lot of progress on some of aviation’s priorities in 2024, and which leave us in a good place for 2025.
“There is still a lot of work to do, however, with various other costs and burdens potentially putting UK airports at a competitive disadvantage compared to our international rivals.
“We’ll keep making the case on issues like this to the minister and the wider government so that the economic growth that the UK is relying on can be delivered.”
