Following the decision by Mayor Boris Johnson to block planning permission for London City Airport’s growth plans, Ed Anderson, Chairman of the Airport Operators Association, the trade body for UK airports, said:
“The AOA believes that in order for the UK to compete in both established and emerging markets, we need excellent aviation connectivity right across the country. We support all airports that wish to grow and believe that we should be making best use of existing capacity at UK airports. The aviation industry has demonstrated that growth can be achieved sustainably. We urge policy makers everywhere to support UK airports’ aspirations to grow, recognising their positive impact on the UK economy and our global connectivity.”
