Commenting on the CAA’s report on airport accessibility released today [Thursday 11 July 2019] which shows that a record 3.7 million passengers with additional needs travelled through UK airports, Chief Executive of the AOA, Karen Dee said:
“Everyone deserve to travel with confidence and ensuring that passengers who need extra assistance have a pleasant and smooth journey is a priority for UK airports.
“The CAA’s report shows that UK airports are leading the way on helping passengers with additional needs and are continuously improving, with 79% of passengers with additional needs saying that were satisfied with the service they received.
“There is no better evidence that airports are getting support for passengers with additional needs increasingly right than the 49% growth in numbers of these passengers travelling since 2014, compared to overall passenger growth of just 25% over the same period.
“There is always more that can be done. Airports will continue to work with airlines and other partners to improve the travel experience of people with physical and hidden disabilities or other additional needs.”
